The Dark Light

Trodden from the world,
he walks down the alley.
Treacherous people all about,
who fool throughout the day.
Lost in hopes, he fell dull
for he had none to walk with him,
but his shadow along the brim.

Dark the night was
and the clock was roaring high.
Those street lamps were twinkling
down the road beneath the dingy sky.

Oblivion scented from him,
as through darkness he survives!
Hoping light would find its way
stars began to light up the heavens.

But no sooner that he recollects
that every light has a shade,
and not all darkness fade.
Desolate he was when he began
he redeems his hopes, and steps away,
none but his shadow stays all through the way.
